Forecast 5 Installation Guide

Section 1 – Installing Forecast 5

  • Download the Forecast 5 file and run the Forecast.exe – select the appropriate installation option:
    • Select Install with SQL if you are installing on a server or a single computer.
    • Select Install without SQL if you are installing on a workstation.
    • Consult the SQL Server 2008 Express Installation section for assistance with additional configuration for the terminal server installation.
  • Acknowledge the Forecast 5 Setup Wizard and click Next to continue.
  • Select the I Agree option for the License Agreement and click Next.
  • Select an appropriate Installation Folder and whether or not you would like Forecast 5 available for all users on the computer. Click Next.
  • Click Next to confirm and start the installation.
  • Observe the status of the installation on the progress bar and upon its completion, you will have successfully installed Forecast 5. Click Close to exit.

Section 2 – SQL Server 2008 Express Installation

  • Download the SQL Server 2008 Express file, launch the program and select Run on the security warning dialog.
  • Accept the licence agreement and observe the start and completion of the installation. A dialog will appear that states the Setup may take several minutes to configure the necessary components. You may need to select Cancel if this takes beyond a reasonable time – the program will still have been installed.
  • Restart your machine when prompted to continue with the setup.
  • Upon restart, the installation will reappear. Select your desired language and the Sequel Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services edition.
  • Your installation will begin and progress as various components are downloaded and installed. File extraction will take several minutes.
  • Once the Setup Support Rules screen appears, click OK.
  • If you are installing the full version, a Product Key screen will appear – click Next to continue.
  • Check the I accept the license terms box and click Next to continue.
  • Start the SQL Server installation by clicking the Install button. SQL Server 2008 will install and all rules should have passed. If you have forgotten to open the firewall ports a warning will appear. Open the required reports and click Next.
  • When the Feature Selection screen appears, ensure the following features have been selected and click Next:
    • Database Engine Services
    • Full-Text Search
    • Management Tools – Basic
    • SQL Client Connectivity SDK
  • Click Next for both the Instance Configuration and Disk Space Requirements screens.
  • To set up SQL with local system authentication against Operating System accounts, you must select from the list of values provided. If you want to provide credentials manually, leave the space blank. Click Next to continue.
  • On the Database Engine Configuration screen, you can specify Database Engine authentication security mode, administrators and data directories. Add a valid credential by clicking Add Current User. Click Next to continue.
  • Select the desired information you would like to send to Microsoft and click Next.
  • The install will check the rules you have entered. Click Next.
  • Verify the features you have selected to be installed and click Install if all okay. The install will begin and complete if successful. Click Next.
  • A final installation dialog screen will appear with supplementary information. Click Close and restart your computer when prompted.
  • SQL Server 2008 Express has now been successfully installed.

Section 3 – Initial Forecast 5 Setup

  • Launch Forecast 5 from your desktop or Start Menu.
  • Enter your Product Key and Company Name – these can be found on the email you received from Forecast 5 Limited. Ensure that the company name is spelled identical to how it is on the email. Click Activate Online Now and then OK.
  • Enter the details below into the New SQL Server Name and Database Name.
    • New SQL Server Name
      • For Stand Alone Installations: .\SQLEXPRESS
      • For Server: e.g.Servername\SQLEXPRESS
    • Database name
      • FORECAST5
  • Click Update SQL Server to continue.

Section 4 – Creating a Forecast

  • Login to Forecast 5 with the following default details.
    • Username: admin Password: (leave blank)
  • Click OK to continue and select the New Forecast button to create the forecast.
