When creating an Excel formula, sometimes the result you get is not quite the one you expected, and if a complex formula is being used, it can be time consuming to find where the error is occurring.
If you’re ever writing a long formula and it doesn’t give you the result that you are after, you can use the F9 shortcut to check the result of each part of your formula.

Applies To: Microsoft® Excel® 2010, 2013 and 2016.
Select your formula by either double clicking or pressing F2, then highlighting the part of the formula with your mouse and pressing F9. This will show you the result of your selection. The results of each section of the formula can be inspected in this way.
Remember to either press Escape or Ctrl + Z to revert back to your formula
By pressing F9, complex formulas will be easily evaluated. Errors can also be quickly traced and corrected, thus saving you time.
